Your donation to the Chalfant Run-Thompson Run Watershed Association is one of the most powerful means for you to support the protection, preservation, and restoration of the streams and tributaries of our close to 20-square mile watershed, which stretches from Wilkinsburg to Plum, and includes Penn Hills, Monroeville, Wilkins Township, Churchill and Turtle Creek.
As an organization, we have a two-pronged approach to protecting our beloved local environment:
- 1. To actively study, protect and clean up these streams, and
- 2. To engage our community in their local environment, particularly our school-age residents.
Folks won't protect what they don't love, and they can't love what they don't know. We have to, have to, have to get folks, especially kids, outside and allow them to interact with Nature so that they will grow up to love and protect it also. We have the potential to have Laurel-Highland-quality streams right here in our backyards and flowing under our bridges and streets! Our streams are not completely dead anymore, and we can make them vibrant, life-giving places again that invite awe, wonder and contemplation.
